Megastars Heidi Klum and Seal recently announced that they separated. The news of the split came last week when Project Runway host Heidi Klum was seen visiting several divorce lawyers in the Hollywood area. Sources say that Klum will cite "irreconcilable" differences" as the cause of the split and it is widely believed that Seal's explosive temper is the real reason behind the breakup.

"While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate," the couple told People Magazine. "We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart."

The couple also stressed that their top priority remains their children. They told their young children about the divorce without giving too many details. They stressed that they want their children to feel loved and never to blame themselves in any way for their parents' divorce.

Although it is unclear whether a prenuptial agreement was signed, it is likely that the couple has one. Both spouses make a significant amount of money, so it is unlikely that either will need spousal support. Child support may however be awarded if Seal gets custody of the children, but whether this will happen is uncertain.

The amount of time a parent spends away from the home is a consideration in many child custody disputes. In this case both parents have significant travel commitments for their career. Despite being based in Los Angeles, Heidi hosts the New York-based Project Runway Show and Germany's Next Top Model. Seal has also planned an extensive European tour to support his latest album which was released in November.
